mika's online diary

I can't believe how fast the time flies.. It feels like yesterday I just got you and you were this tiny little cottonball baby, who walked so slow because you were so small and cuddly... now... You sleep on my bed, you sometimes hump our legs, you like to run around and play hide and seek... and you're also 1 year older..

Happy birthday to my special baby boy, Appa!
I know I planned a huge birthday party for you last year, I was thinking of which dog cafe to go to, what kind of cake, balloons, etc...

But I got so busy and it's sad that I was not there to celebrate your first birthday with you...

But! I know my mom and dad, or your Mimi and Dada will take care of you while I am away, and while your daddy Mike is busy..

I know you weren't prepared for this, but thanks to mom and dad for trying to celebrate it even if its not the grand celebration I planned for~
Thank you guys!

My brothers were apparently so busy trying to get his attention so he would look at the camera while my mom was taking the picture lol

Appa's first birthday cake! which is smothered before taking a picture lol

My happy boy!

I will be back in the Philippines for his 2nd birthday, and we will celebrate it in the grandest way possible lol

Love you appa!

Oha! Here I am blogging again, now at the start of the year, I know I made a promise to myself that I will be more active in blogging this 2019, and it's already march, and I have yet to write another entry...

I have a perfectly good reason for that, and it's because, I just moved to Japan!  I am working as a Translator/Interpreter here in Shimane-ken, Izumo Shi!
A lot has happened since the past year, fixing all the necessary documents, waiting for the right moment to actually tell people (besides my family and boyfriend) that I am leaving for a year to live and work in Japan, I wanted to make sure everything goes well before actually posting about it.

So here I am, a month after...
My flight was 2.1.2019 via Philippine Airlines going to Haneda, Tokyo. I was stationed in Shimane Ken Izumo Shi along with these two lovely ladies Diane and Marianne, so we had a connecting flight from Haneda to Izumo shi via Japan Airlines.

The flight from Philippines to Japan was dreadful.. it's my first-time leaving home for this long, living alone, without my family, leaving my boyfriend Mike, leaving my baby boy Appa, and quitting a job that was fun for meand I loved my workmates... During the entire flight, I was holding back my tears, I couldn't enjoy the food, the movies on the plane... I actually wanted to quit and go back home. People who have known me for years would know, working and living in Japan has always been a dream of mine since I was young, and even though I was finally fulfilling that dream, I was not really happy... But, I tried to think positive, made myself think that a year will go by fast I would not even notice it... It was a 4 hour flight to Haneda, and we had 2 hours to spare before our next flight to Izumo, so we just waited around the airport for a bit because we wouldn't want to miss our flight... Then the flight from Haneda to Izumo was about an hour and a half.

When we arrived in Izumo City, we were greeted by 3 of our colleagues, and they guided us to each of our apartments, to be honest, we were shocked that we weren't going to live together in one apartment complex and we would just have our own units.
Apparently, we lived in separate apartment buildings...and they were not that close to each other... so we were a bit disappointed about that.

But over time, I started to like my apartment, and it was in the middle.

The day after we arrived, it was a Saturday, and one of the support people took us out to shop for basic needs like food, stuff to use at home, etc.

When Monday hit, we started working our papers, like updating our residenc cards, getting our own Hanko (or stamp), visiting the satellite office, etc.

The apartment I live in was provided by the company, I'm on the 2nd floor, and the bike in the preious photo is my bike, provided by the company as well.

A lot has happened in the past month... but not really worth talking about I guess.... I was depressed during the first week here in Izumo, our places had no Internet/Wifi, so I had to wake up early, or sleep late so I could use the wifi at the drug store near my place so I could call my family in the Philippines...

it was hard, and I really wanted to go home.. but things got better after the first week... and I am willing to try and see, if I can do better in the coming months..

Random photos of things that have happened during the past few days lol

I just wanted to give you guys an update on how I have been doing, so I'm just going to spam you guys with photos I took over the past month!

During our first week, we started working already lol, we picked up 3 filipino workers at the train station who will be working at the factory that we will be supporting.

Since our schedules will be changing once work officially starts at the site, we had a day off (well me and Dyan at least)

Dyan and I went to Aeon mall and had huge takoyaki for lunch, lol we went to bookstores, toy stores, clothing stores, and a lot of other places!

As expected, the items sold here are really adorable! The mall we went to is a little far from my place, it was a 35 min walk! haha!
But once work started, our schedules already changed, so during my next day off, I went to the mall near my place alone~

This mall is called YouMe Town mall, and this is where I bought my Router so that I would have my own internet at home!

After this, I went to dinner with some of the people from one process from the site that we support. (2.12.19)

My first authentic Japanese restaurant experience haha!

I love that the Mega Don Quijote is near my place as well!

Although I have to admit, Its really lonely here... the mood of the city is gloomy, not much people walk or ride their bikes, almost everyone has their own car since a lot of the places are pretty far from each other... but I am getting used to doing things alone...

I ate at an Italian themed cafe alone one time, and they had the creamiest carbonara!

As days go by, I try to familiarize myself with the city, and try to relax and not pressure myself too much... I tend to do things alone usually, and I always video call my parents and boyfriend since it feels like I dont have anyone to talk about my problems with lol

But a month has gone by, and the 3 of us were lucky we were able to go out! (me, Dyan and Marianne).

2 of our senpai interpreters went with us and ate lunch at the mall, then we took purikuras!

It has been a rollercoaster month (2.1.19 ~ 3.1.19)
To be honest, I didnt really expect it was going to be this hard, lonely, and sad... I know I sound so negative, but working/living here in Japan has been a dream of mine since high school...so I expected I was going to be ready, challenged, and happy... I never expected to be this sad lol I guess I am clingy, its my first time leaving my family and boyfriend for this long... so I guess thats why I am still home sick... plus I miss my dog sooo much ;A; but! I will try to do my best!

For those of you who are interested in knowing which company I work for, how I applied, and all the other details, I'll try to make a very detailed blog post about it!

Obligatory Family picture

Hey there 2019! I can't believe it's almost been a year since my last post, a lot of things have happened throughout 2018 and I'm sorry self.. I wasn't able to document them.. but! One of my goals this year is to become active in blogging again!

I do have a surprise post within this month, hopefully.. lol
So, I just want to do a QUICK recap on what has happened throughout 2018.. but the big change in 2018 was that I got a puppy! Appa!

He's now 10 months old,  but we got him when he was almost 2 months old!
We've been through a lot with him for the past 8 months he has been with us and we really love him! So excited to have him as part of our family!

Mom took the photo for this one lol

Just a little Christmas dinner appreciation post for ya'll haha!
Last Christmas was so fun! I was a little busy because of work, speaking of work.. I was also promoted this year to a Real Time Analyst post lol yay for me!

But apart from that, I've been working on something else as well

So stay tuned for a more elaborate post about that, and maybe I'll do a Q&A about it IF all goes well lol

and of course another highlight for last year was...

Let's go Pikachu and Let's go Eevee game for switch!
As a Pokemon fan, this is a big deal haha!

One of the things I've done for this year was being able to catch up with my College buddies a few days ago!

Gosh we've all grown... not that much haha!

I'm planning on figuring out what kind of blog posts  I will be posting this year, will I focus on photos?... Writing?... what kind of theme/motif will I be using for my blog this 2019? I'm still thinking about it.

But hey, welcome back to myself!

Growing up, I was never really the type of girl who was into make up, girly things, or anything "normal" girls are into, I was more of an introvert type, watching Anime at home, never really cared what I looked like, but ever since I started working, I became more conscious of my overall appearance, and started appreciating make up in a different way. Before I thought that make up was there to change your appearance, be someone you're not, and it was just for boys to think you're pretty, but now I've realized that its a different form of art, and its for you and you alone. (still not good at putting on make up tho FYI lol)

I've been wanting to purchase from a brand where their Philosophy is to enhance your current beauty instead of concealing or trying to change something, and that's what GLOSSIER. is all about!
"Skin First, Make up Second" - their products are focused on skin care and how to enhance your natural beauty!

When you go to their website, you'll see that the models are women of color, so it means their products would work on any race/color, and at the same time, you'll find that the models barely have any make up on, if you're into the "No make up" make up look, then this brand is for you! They are all about the dewiness

Be naturally beautiful! As you can see the models in their website are not full glammed when it comes to make up~ feel free to visit their website and purchase!

With that being said, I did buy stuff for myself!
  • Glossier. Cherry Balm Dot Com

From Glossier Website:
Balm Dotcom
Our cult favorite do-everything skin salve.
A hydrating, long-lasting, multipurpose lip balm and skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair dry, chafed skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture wherever it goes. Opt for Original, or choose from five mood-enhancing flavors: Birthday (inspired by Milk Bar’s famous cake, with subtle shimmer), Rose (with a barely-there pink tint), Cherry (with a sheer, juicy red tint), Mint, and Coconut. The lip-smacking 11-year-old in you is freaking out right now. Collect them all!

The Cherry Balm Dot Com is a universal Skin salve that you can put anywhere! but since I got the cherry one (one of their newer flavors) this does have a little bit of tint to it, which I prefer since I just want to add color to my lips most of the time~

Cherry Balm Dotcom
(this specific image is from Pinterest)

This retails for about $12 USD (roughly 625 PHP), of course if you buy it here in the PH it would retail to about 980-1100 PHP because of tax and all that, so buying it from the website itself is cheaper~

  • Glossier. Cloud Paint BEAM
From Glossier website:
Cloud Paint
A new way to blush.
With Cloud Paint, we set out to make blush the high point of your routine. The pillowy, gel-cream formula is designed to be the most user-friendly cheek color in existence. If you can finger paint, you can Cloud Paint—simply dab it onto cheeks wherever you please. It’s seamless, sheer, and buildable (i.e. it’s hard to accidentally apply too much). Inspired by gradient pink NYC sunsets, the shades are optimized to work across a wide range of skin tones for a healthy, flushed-from-within glow.

This adorable seamless cheek color is a fan favorite among beauty gurus! it's really sheer, its easy to blend, the color looks really natural and it gives you a "Sun kissed" look, or the "my cheeks only better" look!

There are actually 4 shades to this series:

And I got the BEAM one because I liked the "flushed look"

Glossier Cloud Paints in Beam, Dusk, Puff and Haze
(this specific image is from http://makeupforlife.net/2017/03/glossier-cloud-paint-review-swatches.html)

This product retails for $18 USD (about 940 PHP), but again buying it here in the PHP this retails to around 1200 - 1400 PHP depending on where you buy it~

And the last Product I got was;

  • Glossier. Lip Gloss
From Glossier website:
Lip Gloss
It’s the Glossiest.
We took everything you love about lip gloss, got rid of everything you don’t, and formulated the perfect Lip Gloss. Our formula gives lips one thing: cushiony, crystal clear shine—no gluey feeling, no stickiness, no grittiness, no glitter. The fuzzy doe-foot applicator glides on a delightfully lightweight layer for a comfortable, glassy finish that won’t disappear after an hour (oooh yeeeah). And because it’s Glossier, your lips stay soft and hydrated thanks to moisturizing Vitamin E. Shine on, friend.

I love this lip gloss! it gives you that healthy, plump, full looking lips, and there's no tingly sensation! I'm not into lip glosses because of that warm-feeling, and tingly sensation, and I'm happy that this product does not have that at all! This is a crystal clear gloss with no added tint, but it's glassy, and classy!

This product retails for $14 USD (730 PHP), again locally priced at around 1100-1200 PHP. But I have to tell you guys, the prices are worth it!

They all came in this pretty and well known Pink Bubble Wrap Glossier pouch!

And another thing I'm really happy  about is they also came with stickers!

Overall, I'd rate these products 10/10 because they are really easy to use and you get what you paid for, quality and quantity all in one!

If you've visited their website, you can see that they only ship within the US, Canada and UK, so I had my auntie who lives in the US ship it over to the PH, Tax wise, retail pricing, and of course time wise it is definitely cheaper. My boyfriend paid for these actually, THANK YOU SO MUCH! <3

You can order these locally if you don't mind the pricing being a little higher than how much it is in their website.

You can buy/order these from BEAUTY MNL, or Make Up Authority PH ; these two are the most recommended sites you can try purchasing these from!

Anyway, thank you so much for reading! Hope you enjoyed!
